i severely dislike how, when two bibites make contact, the defending bibite is just launched across the screen, ending all engagements as quickly as they began. i wouldn't consider this combat.
my dominant species in my world right now gets to around 30u with jaw/attack strength around 450/220N if that means anything.
also, if one bibite can comfortably fit through the other's throat WAG/bite size, they should just get nommed whole. this could open up for an internal parasite build or make bibites more likely to become predators, and give bibites a chance to escape if their attacker dies soon after.
I booted up a save from the 5.1 version in 6.0 and it seems none of the 5.1 Bibites are able to eat. The bite bar progresses, but they don't seem to be able to swallow.
tried to post a pic but it won’t let me. My lineage randomly went extinct and spawned in a new yet similar species to what I had saying the same generation, yet not having any parent species anymore which makes zero sense. Wouldn’t the simulation try to do the basic bibite again? Not to mention it’s next to impossible for my bibite to have gone extinct to begin with. There are random lines all over my tree and I can tell that the new species it spawned in. Is just a derivative of the first species, yet it says it’s connected in zero way whatsoever
wait my first comment miiight be because they reached 150%. It would do that yeah? Spawn a new tree once there’s truly a new species? Then they just outcompeted what made them making the first tree come to an end?
I keep getting an issue where many food particles stack on top of each other in the center of my zone. It lags the simulation severely. Is there any way to fix this?
I love the new species tracker, but can it be possible to make it never delete a species record, i can't just go manually favorite every species when im running the simulation and doing other things.
You can lower the pruning threshold to 0, in the lineage panel settings. That would be similar to favoriting all the existing and future species
Eventually species will still disappear if they shrink to small enough numbers, that's just entropy and the log-like logic I implemented for compression!
incredible! i love the systems at play in this simulation , im about to run this on a high end gaming pc so i can really reap the benefits of such a complex system and im so glad your developing this even further! this may truly be the best simulation ever!
This is an incredible update! Great job and I bet it will be so worth it as I let it run and discover new things! I did want to bring up a couple of bugs. I am using the linux version and letting it run on my steam deck.
1. Graphical bug in the biology panel. Only the stomach contents and eggs seem to render. Rolling the mouse around still brings up the windows for the other organs, they just aren't visually showing up.
2. The save menu appears glitched. I can only rely on autosave currently.
Yeah, the shader I made for the preview internals has some special requirements that might not be supported by vulkan... trying some workarounds for a hotfix as I also fix some bugs caught since release and make a mac fix
Also can you give me more details on the save panel issue?
Sorry I forgot to reply to this! It seems you fixed the save menu issue (it was with the overlapping text, I did finally join the discord and see the issue was addressed there.) though it seems the organ visibility issue wasn't yet. Luckily its not something that should get in the way of anything critical as you work on this stuff.
Are you planning on making the game modder-friendlier? Like, make your own modloader (even just a primitive modloader for loading and enabling assemblies from DLL-files would be very helpful) and add the ability to add custom fields to bibits (e.g. using dictionaries).
I know that the game already has the ability to easily replace sprites of bibits with custom sprites, but I would like the game code itself to become more customizable.
I think that the community would really appreciate such a direction of the game's development. Since your game is already a huge space for various interesting experiments and explorations, the further trend of adding the possibility of customization can make these explorations even more interesting and diverse.
wierd decision to remove the randomly generated virgin bibites which acted randomly and had to slowly evolve on their own. Like sure add defaults for players who just want to watch little guys run around but removing the old ones for no reason just sucks
I love this simulation so far, but I can't figure out how to find the graphs and family trees. Also, the feedback page needs to be updated to include versions beyond 0.4
Thanks! The graphs and family tree are only in the patreon alpha builds for now, but are coming out very soon! 0.6 public release is gonna blow you all away I think 😎
Hello! I just wanted to say that your game is really cool. The Bibites is definitely the best simulation game I've ever played. I don't have much in terms of suggestions, since it is already really good, but it would be cool if you could set the aging penalties to negative numbers so that the Bibites in a simulation could get stronger or more efficient with age. Overall, amazing game!
Please release the ant as a stock bibit. I've been trying to make my own and have had no success beyond making murderous queens that mass-produce drones that go in circles and never return.

also, zero hotkeys work and the only way I can zoom on the tree is to to transfer the file over to my laptop and use the touchscreen

i would like an option to purge all pellets under a certain size to improve performance in one or two clicks.
You outta tweak the strengths. a micro creature should not be able to have 14000N of jaw strength
I would be very curious to see the genetic makeup of this bibite 🤔
sure, just over 250 hours long with these pics
help it doesn’t go past 50%? I’m on max and I think I did everything right (I’m not sure though)
I am assuming this is on Mac. Make sure to EXTRACT the files from the downloaded zip file into the application folder. Hope this helps.

I tried running The Bibites on Mac Ventura 13.7. When I boot up the game I get this screen.
I am on windows but when I try to launch the application but loading bar does not go past 50%. Any suggestions to get it to work?
Try running it as administrator. That's what worked for me.

you should make an installer to prevent people getting confused when they can’t figure why it doesnt run on their mac or linux
can you help me run it properly on Ma
you need to lauch the game from with an argument
./The\ Bibites.x86_64 -force-vulkan
to anyone wondering why 0.6 is gone the original release had a few bugs including one that prevents meat from droping
so its kinda like spore, but the first stages, and in 16 bit

If you run the windows version through proton it will show organs correctly. Hotfix update doesn't fix the issue.
It doesn't work
Mac users need to run from their application folder
IM linux user
can you please make the older versions downloadable? (IE 5.0)
only works on windows
Mac users need to run from their application folder
How do you use it on chromebook?

It's still there, on the spawning options for a given bibite template you can choose "Randomize Genes"
when i extract the file and try to open bibites.exe it sais to" instal it again so that would fix the issue" but it doesent

I love my bibites!

Hi! Can't make it work on a MacBookPro M2Max Sonoma! The start up screen shows 50% loading and never ends.. I paid 7$ Please help!
Mac USERS:
Apple needs you to run any app from the Application folder. So make sure that's where you extract the .app folder.
Hi! Still same result! It freezes at 50% loading.
Extract the whole downloaded bibites zip folder into your applications. That should work
All you need to do is:
1. Right click Bibites and press "Show Contents";
2. Proceed into folders Contents > MacOS;
3. Run the Application.
Hopefully, you found this helpful if you haven't yet launched the game.
Hi, download the itch app and install and launch the game from there. It stopped the 50% loading issue for me and for someone else here too!
As mentioned in the download instructions for MAC:
1. Put the whole TheBibites folder you downloaded in your Application folder
2. That's it.

more than a year already for the 6.0, thats taking a while...
it is a large update and there are only two developers working on this
This game is amazing!
Mac. Loaded to 50% then stuck
Try launching through the itch app. That is what fixed it for me.

After I start the simulation it's just a blank screen :(
Is this on a Mac?
No, I use a superior operating system: Ubuntu Linux
hmmm... You can try adding the "-force-vulkan" command line parameter when launching the game.
lol calm down a wee bit man
Will there ever be a android release?
reminds me of the spore cell stage
Idea: Cross species herding. This would be interesting because it could allow for symbiotic relationships
How do you add "-force-vulkan" command line parameter when launching the game?
